Lions Bay Wildlife Monitoring Project
In April 2026, five cameras were installed on wildlife trails in Lions Bay as part of a multi-year project lead by Dr. Danielle Wills, Project Director for Nature Lions Bay.
She is supported by a team of volunteers and students from Capilano University.
The initial project goal is to identify species present within the municipality and map important habitat and wildlife corridors to inform future conservation strategies.
We invite residents who have trailcams on their properties to participate in this project. Location of cameras will not be shared other than with the project team.

supporting the wildlife connectivity project
The Wildlife Connectivity Project is a joint initiative co-led by the Squamish Environment Society, the Howe Sound Biosphere Regional Initiative Society, and a coalition of individuals and organizations in the region.
Nature Lions Bay and Bird Friendly Lions Bay are supporting this project by encouraging Lions Bay residents and visitors to submit data via iNaturalist to assist researchers.
